Marathon County Authorities Searching for Man After Rothschild Pursuit

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help locating a 38-year-old Weston man who fled from deputies following a traffic stop and led authorities on a high-speed pursuit through several communities Thursday evening.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to stop a white Cadillac Escalade driven by Christopher Connors at about 6:56 p.m. on Interstate 39 near County Road C in the Town of Knowlton.Connors was wanted on felony charges including bail jumping, battery, theft and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident in Wausau earlier this week.Authorities say Connors initially pulled over, but fled as deputies approached the vehicle. The pursuit continued through Kronenwetter before ending on Calumet Street in the Village of Rothschild, where Connors fled from the vehicle on foot.Connors was last seen at approximately 7:25 p.m. Thursday heading south from the 10,000 block of Calumet Street.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, Kronenwetter Police Department, Mosinee Police Department, Mountain Bay Metropolitan Police Department and Wausau Police Department, searched the area using K-9 teams and aerial drones but were unable to locate him.

Connors is described as a Black man, approximately six feet, two inches tall and weighing about 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, white shorts with a multicolored pattern and white shoes. The Sheriff’s Office says Connors is not believed to be armed and there is no known threat to the public. Anyone who sees Connors should not approach him and should call 911.
